چکیده

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between standardized uptake value (SUV), obtained from [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET), and treatment response and survival of inoperable NSCLC patients treated with high dose radiotherapy. Fifty-one patients were included, recording stage, performance, weight loss, tumour volume, histology, lymph node involvement, SUV, and delivered radiation dose. The maximum SUV (SUVmax) within the primary tumour was a sensitive and specific factor for predicting treatment response. Apart from SUVmax, stage and performance were also independent predictive factors for treatment response. In a multivariate disease-specific survival (DSS) analysis, SUVmax (p = 0.01), performances status (p = 0.008) and stage (p = 0.04) were prognostic factors. For overall survival (OS), SUVmax (p = 0.001) and performance (p = 0.06) were important prognostic factors. SUVmax was an important prognostic factor for survival of inoperable NSCLC patients and a predictive factor for treatment response. Although the number of patients was small, the treatment was inhomogeneous and the use of FDG SUV may have constraints, we still conclude that the FDG SUV is potentially a good indicator for selecting patients for different treatment

Prognostic value of various metabolic parameters on pre-treatment 18-F-FDG PET/CT in patients with stage I-III non-small cell lung cancer

Background: the aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of 18Fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) parameters in both overall survival and progression-free survival in Stage I-III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, 267 patients who were diagnosed as Stage I-III non-smal...

[F-18] FDG-PET/CT parameters as predictors of outcome in inoperable NSCLC patients

BACKGROUND We evaluated the prognostic significance of standardized uptake value (SUVmax), metabolic tumour volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) in [F-18] FDG PET/CT findings in patients with inoperable non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). PATIENTS AND METHODS One hundred and three patients (mean age, 65.6 ± 16 years) underwent [F-18] FDG PET/CT before the chemotherapy. The SUVmax v...

Prognostic value of 2-[18F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose uptake as measured by PET scan in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of 2-[18F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (18F-FDG) uptake determined by positron emission tomography (PET) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in relation to disease stage and/or tumor histology. A retrospective review of 144 patients with newly diagnosed lung cancer undergoing PET imaging was performed. Differences in survival were co...

Prognostic value of SUVmax and metabolic tumor volume on 18F-FDG PET/CT in early stage non-small cell lung cancer patients without LN metastasis.

This paper aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and metabolic tumor volume (MTV) of the primary tumor on (18)F-FDG PET/CT scan in early stage non-small cell cancer (NSCLC) patients without lymph node (LN) metastasis. In the experiment, eighty NSCLC patients pathologically staged as T1N0 or T2N0 were included (M:F=50:30; mean age, 64.8 years). All ...
